This policy explains what information MicDrop ("we", "us", "the app") collects when you
use the mobile app and the supporting services, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
Account information
Email address, username, display name, and password (stored as a one-way hash).
Optional profile fields you provide: avatar image, bio.
Content you create
Sings you log: song title, artist, optional rating, optional note, optional venue, optional
karaoke platform, optional timestamp.
Likes, comments, follows, wishlist items, and reports you submit.
Automatic information
Daily check-in date used to compute your streak count.
Basic request metadata (IP address, user-agent) recorded transiently in server logs for
security and abuse prevention. Logs are retained for up to 30 days.
2. How we use information
To operate core features: feed, profiles, search, notifications, badges, streaks.
To prevent abuse, spam, and unauthorized access.
To respond to support requests you send us.
3. What we don't do
We do not sell your personal information.
We do not run third-party advertising networks inside the app.
We do not access your device's contacts, photos, microphone, or location without an
explicit in-app permission prompt.
4. Third-party services
iTunes Search API — used to look up song metadata and album artwork. Your
search query is sent to Apple; no account information is shared.
Push notification providers (Apple Push Notification service / Google FCM)
— used to deliver notifications you've opted into.
Hosting — our backend runs on Railway. The database is hosted in the United
States.
5. Data retention & deletion
You can delete your account at any time from the app: Profile → Settings → Delete Account.
Deletion is immediate and irreversible. When you delete your account we permanently remove your
profile, sings, comments, likes, follows, wishlist, and streak history within 7 days. Aggregated,
non-identifying counters (e.g. total sings across the platform) are retained.
6. Children
MicDrop is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account,
please contact us and we will remove it.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (EEA, UK, California, etc.), you may have rights to access, correct,
export, or delete your personal data. Most of these can be exercised directly in-app. For anything
else, email the address below and we will respond within 30 days.
8. Changes
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top and, where
appropriate, notify you in-app.
